Effective questioning yields immediate feedback on student understanding, supports informal and formative assessment, and captures input on the effectiveness of teaching strategies. Let’s scaffold from teacher-led questioning to student-led questioning and prepare our students for post-high school experiences with critical thinking skills, advocating for themselves, and questioning where they and their ideas fit into our diverse world.
This professional development session offers an essential overview of Indiana’s new requirement for personal finance as a required course. Designed strictly for educational purposes, this session will help teachers understand key topics to be covered with students, including the basics of taxes, wealth management, budgeting, meeting housing and transportation needs, investing, retirement planning, and the banking industry. We’ll also explore the pros and cons of credit cards, how credit scores work, and how to communicate this effectively to students. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and gain confidence in preparing students for real-world financial literacy, even if you won’t be teaching the course it will be something worth knowing when students ask.
